Our Trip to Lithuania

Being that our camera has one foot in recycling heaven I'll just recount our trip with all the senses!

In no particular order:

Sight: Latvian and Lithuanian communist apartment and old government buildings. The main road in Latvia had some nice bus stop shelters. Stopped in Latvia for lunch on the way to Lithuania and saw caged bears, deers and ostriches, oh my! (ok...couldn't resist!) Prices are 10-30 percent cheaper in Latvia. Estonians mispel stop: STOPP. In Estonia, some of the streets reminded me of streets in Orange County.

Lithuanian police flag us down. They don't pull you over like in California. You see them ahead of you and one policeman steps into the road while the other waits in the car. The limit was 90 and we were going 112. I guess they didn't understand that we were trying to pass a truck, as Mikko explained in English. They were kind enough to let us go, and B seemed to enjoy the whole thing, "Polisi Auto!"

Feeling Anxiety as our gas gauge read, "0". 20 km past "0" we finally found a gas station in Lithuania.

Smell: Dust on hotel pillows, sniffled a couple of days. T.J. diaper right after I already changed him...thanks buddy!

Sound: Techno music from little Nissan's. At breakfast, the hotel provided food with more techno (fun watching B and T.J. bobbin' their head to 80's technofied eating pourage!). T.J. waking us 3a.m., and Mikko and I having a "discussion" about the whole thing. Hearing the end of the Spiderman cartoon movie over and over and over again on the fairie to Estonia. Worship in English, preaching in English with no kids to grab my attention.

Taste: Timothy trying new food, tried the jarred food, but that was no fun! He ate what we ate. Lithuanian ice cream...mmm! B drinks warm milk the whole time because the people here think it's healthier than cold milk.

Touch: Trying NOT to touch the bedspread in the Hotel rooms. Why? I used to work in one. B and Mikko washing thoroughly getting the car washed (much cheaper to clean in Lativia!). Hugging colleagues with hello's and goodbye's. Pushing the single beds together so we can snuggle :). T.J. eating a lot of finger foods.
