The Woods Method
So as not to keep baby Sivonen fans in suspense, let me give you a reason to relax. Yes, true baby comes in "God's timing". I agree. Yet what I am about to share should give some women a reason to relax and not be so anxious about their baby coming.
Like some people I know [cough]...
Here is a little history of myself and my babies: All three have been over the EDD (estimated due date). This technique has been done on a traditional 28 cycle period wheel to guess when abouts the sweet comfortable baby will come out (emphasis mine).
But you know, many other mommies and myself do not have their periods every twenty-eight days...
Thinking I might have the baby TODAY. Our midwife tells us NOW, that the 13th is maybe not correct, nor is her wheel (15th).
"Then when is it Heidi?!"
Here is the email she sent me:
Here's the formula to calculate your estimate due date...
take the first day of your last menstrual period (5/10/10) and add 1 year
5/10/10 + 1 year = 5/10/11
subtract 2 months and 18 days = 2/20/11
for menstrual cycles longer than 28 days and the difference (so your days are about 30 we add 2)
2/20/11 + 2 days = 2/22/11 EDD
So your estimated due date based on the Wood's Method is February 22, 2011

Now that you can relax a little (ok, talking to myself too), you can read more about it here.
