What is true?: Freedom from Fear
The past few weeks I have been learning a lot. Several decisions had to be made for the calendar and I finally sat down with the hubs. He asked a really important question about our children's schooling. I noticed we started butting heads when I found myself trying to hide fear.
Once I expressed that fear, we began discussing what was true. He helped me to see what things are for what they really are, and not what I imagine them to be. After that conversation I had an amazing experience during that week. I felt like that burden and fear was lifted. The following day I met up with a close friend. As we were going through the book, Disciplines of a Godly Woman, by Barbara Hughes I was reminded of this passage of scripture:
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8
It was last spring at a women's retreat that I heard Angela Mooney from FBCN refer to this passage of scripture. I remember her encouraging us to rely on God's word to see what is true and honorable...
I sensed the Lord's grace the whole weekend and thought surely someone is praying for me (At least Christ is on my behalf). I even told friends that I wasn't fearful. I was wrong.
I also have been learning that the enemy can use two things to cause you to want to be in control: Fear and Anger. None of these are fun to have, but when released into the Father's hands, freedom flows and the grace of my Lord Jesus Christ enters in.
Fear can keep you from doing just about anything, whether good or just normal common everyday things. Although, not totally paralyzed to fear, in some ways it has kept me from even writing (whether it be my journal or blog, etc.). The thing is, I enjoy writing. So, here I am writing! Praise the Lord!
